Panther

Panther printThe Florida Panther (Felis concolor) is a large, powerful cat occurring just in south Florida in the Big Cypress Swamp and Everglades region.  It is an endangered species.

Panthers generally avoid humans, but may occasionally be seen along roads.  The greatest cause of death to the panther is the car, particularly along Alligator Alley, and State Highways 41 and 29.

The Commission's Advisory Council on Environmental Education maintains a complete web site called  Florida Panther Net, where you can learn about the Panther.
